The success of the Cordova Towne Neighborhood Association will hinge upon the level of buy-in from community residents and support from the City.  This means that in order to experience success in building dynamic community, we will need to unite as a neighborhood.  We'll need many people to step up to the plate to become involved in some of the simple ways as mentioned above.  We know that it can sound stressful to add one more thing to your plate, but we are not aiming to add stress, but rather inviting residents to find basic ways to join forces.  We are busy too and are certainly not interested in doing busy work.  This is a grass roots effort with no paid staff.  We are simply neighbors who love our neighborhood.

The truth is that It's easy to think that working to improve the neighborhood is something we can let the City do or leave to the committed few, or even disregard because of how busy life gets.  But the reality is that if we are to see hope, appreciation in property value, change on certain levels, and profound community, then it is crucial for there to be buy-in on a larger scale from people like me and you.  It is our responsibility as residents to help Cordova Towne continually form into a strong community.  We are the guardians for Cordova Towne and we are the ones who have much power in shaping the culture and values of the neighborhood.  To borrow a phrase from JFK and twist it a bit for our local context, "Ask not what others can do for your neighborhood, but what you can do."  The bottom line for us is that we believe that improving our neighborhood is up to us.  And thankfully we have a City that is supportive of our efforts.

You can play an important role in the development of our neighborhood, no matter how old you are or how long you have lived here.  It doesn't matter if you rent or own.  What are you passionate about?  What would you like to see happen in our neighborhood?  What unique abilities, gifts, and angles can you bring to the table for the benefit of everyone?  Be yourself, discover what you have to offer to our community, and then go for it.  The leadership you exercise really does have the power to help shape people's lives and to impact generations.  And most of all, in everything we do, let's not be full of stress and burn out, but rather learn to pace ourselves and enjoy our neighborhood.

ATTENTION STUDENTS: For your senior project at Cordova High, you are invited to consider the possibility of helping your very own neighborhood experience change over the course of your Senior year through various projects and ideas that you implement along side of resident leaders.  This will be something that not only you remember, but a project that could benefit the lives of hundreds of people.  Please contact the Site Administrator to share any ideas you might have as well as brainstorm possibilities.
