The Buzz:

What is the "buzz" amongst neighbors?  The following are opinions, views, and thoughts from neighbors in Cordova Towne. Here is how it works:  Residents can respond to questions that are posed here, at events, or simply their opinions on any topic relating to Cordova Towne.  All you need to do is email a response to "info [at] cordovatowne [dot] com" or call 595-3735 for instructions on where to drop off a written response (only if you do not have Internet access).  Guidelines & the Administrator's Policy are below.

Q: What do you think we should focus on accomplishing as an Association/Neighborhood for 2008?  In other words, what should our goals be?  What do you think will be important that we get done in 2008 in order to be stronger for 2009?  (September 19, 2007)

Windy says:  I think that we are on the right track in our development of this community. I see changes through out the neighborhood already. I think that focus should be on towne pride and togetherness, all of us working together for the greater cause. I would love to see the holidays come alive here. I know that my kids would like to see more sports nights. I would love to have a play group, I have young children and it's difficult to find children their ages that they can play with. Not to mention, mommy's can go a little crazy talking to 2 year old all day. It would be nice to have other moms to talk to (Oct 2, 2007) AF says: I'd like to see more get-togethers. I like the idea that a certain morning of each week would be "mom's meeting day" at White Rock Park, especially if it could be on a Tuesday or Thursday when I don't have to go to work! Of course it would also be open to people who don't have kids, -- just an idea for mixing and meeting one another.  Personally I don't care for Halloween, but I don't mind if you all have fun with it if you don't mind my celebrating Christmas and Easter (Oct 2, 2007)rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

More Coming Soon...

Nathan says: I want the owners of the the town homes and apartments on mills station, ramesgate to take ownership in the way their properties look. Its a big eye shore, and defiantly brings down the value in our homes (10/03/07).

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Ryan L says: I'd like to see our leadership core expand and a steering committee emerge in order to be even more strategic about living out a vision for the neighborhood. Also, I think that it will be important to form a White Rock Park campaign in order to help bring the promised improvements to our park.  (Sept 19, 2007)

Kevin says: I think that keeping up the neighborhood, both in appearance and in crime control is important. This will be a challenge in the coming year because of the numerous foreclosures (Oct 3, 2007).

Q:  What is it that you dream of seeing happen in our neighborhood?  Or in other words, how would you like to see the neighborhood grow stronger? (July 25, 2007)

r
R. says: people coming together and doing things together, knowing each other by name, and sprucing up the neighborhood. E. says: safer for all at anytime of day, clean up junky yards- houses fixed up, stop speeding on White Rock Road, garbage clean-up on Mills Station Road. B. says: To have a political voice in the City Council meetings.

Christian C: I would like to see our city council let us have more say on things they do around here . Like closing off Croydon to Mather. Since I have had to go the long way  now to get to Hwy 50 I have seen more accidents at that light that we have to sit at now then I ever saw crossing Croydon and Mather. Not to mention the area that we now are forced to drive though to get to the freeway can be dangerous with people walking out in front of you like your not there. (09/18/07)

Windy says: We were talking with the kids last night about things they would like to see change in our community and they tossed out a few wishes that I thought I would pass on. Holidays around Cordova Towne are bleak to say the least. The kids would love to see a sense of holiday Spirit in Cordova Towne. Their idea was to get as many homes involved in decorating and then maybe have a "Walking night" to judge the most Spirited homes. Maybe we could get something going for Halloween. Make flyers and plant the seeds. I know that every year they say the same thing about the holidays...They love going to other community's to look at-the lights and go trick or treating in gold river and Folsom because it's more fun. I would love it if they felt proud of where they were from and brought their friends to visit Cordova Towne. I was thinking that maybe we could Kick off a little Halloween party on Portsmouth and invite residents with young children to start early and then come hang out bring cookies and treats and make it more of a social event. Hot apple cider and a gathering around the fire pit! nothing new I could go on for days with ideas, just let me know what you think (September 24, 2007)

Ryan says:  I would love to see more interaction amongst neighbors in spending time together and in sharing information about what is going on in the neighborhood. I would love to see a strong vision for building community embraced. Janel says:  I had an idea- to do a park day, maybe during the day at our local White Rock park? It might be a great way for us mothers in the neighborhood to meet each other.

* A big thanks to Matt and the rest of the team from the Lincoln Village Neighborhood Association for giving us permission to basically copy their "sound off" section in form and language in order to produce our "buzz" webpage.
